When the new organization chart was unveiled, he shared that central office departments and functions would continue to be assessed and further adjustments might be made as a part of the District's focus on eliminating the opportunity gap.

In July 2016, Teaching and Learning was restructured to support system coherence and full implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). As a result, a new division under Teaching and Learning was created, Student Support Services. The reorganization decision was an outcome of central departments and key school leaders’ collaboration and planning on how to best support MTSS with fidelity.

By bringing these services into one division, we can better serve schools, teachers and students - ensuring that each student's story, strengths, and needs are known and supported.

The new Student Support Services division includes: Coordinated School Health, English Language Learners (ELL), Special Education  Student 504/ADA, Advanced Learning, and Counseling. These departments  work in close partnership with the Curriculum and Instruction division, which is also in Teaching and Learning.
