Program Tuition and Refund Policy
2009 - 2010
Before enrolling your student you should determine if he/she is able to commit the time to traffic education classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. Only two absences are allowed. Missing classes or drive sessions because of sports, band, or other activities will be considered an absence. Students must also commit to practice their driving between lessons.
There is no reduced fee or scholarships for low-income students because Washington State does not provide funding for traffic safety education programs. Sorry, we cannot accept time or credit card payments. Full tuition is due at the time of registration.
Tuition is collected just prior to a scheduled session, e.g. payment for after-school classes that begin in September will not be accepted until the September registration day; tuition for the Saturday program that begins in September will not be accepted until the start of the new school year in September. (Please see individual course headings on the Home page for registration dates or call the Traffic Education office at 206) 252-4735.)These fees apply to students who have previously taken the course through the Seattle Public Schools and need to repeat either the classroom portion or behind-the-wheel driving sessions - or both.
- Repeat classroom only: $125.00
- Repeat driving instruction only: $318.00
- Repeat both classroom and driving instruction: $318.00
There will be a $55.00 charge if a student misses the final drive session (final test) and it has to be rescheduled.
Additional driving sessions (outside of the usual instruction time) are available for $55.00 an hour.
Refunds
Refund requests must be made in writing (mail, fax, or email) by the parent/guardian prior to the first day of class or the tuition will be forfeited. If a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, the full amount paid will be refunded. If the student withdraws for any reason, the Course Repeat fee will apply if/when enrolling at a later date. There is a $50.00 refund processing fee for canceling a registration.
Check Return Policy
Only a money order will be accepted to replace a check that has been returned from the bank because of insufficient funds, account closed, etc. The course completion certificate will not be issued until the account has been cleared.
