Strategic Plan: Excellence For All

Capacity Management

Capacity Management is the discipline of providing the correct number of student seats in the correct locations to support student assignment based on educational best practices. In the end, the goal is to minimize student wait lists, minimize the costs associated with excess capacity and transportation, but preserve as much flexibility in the system to respond to demographic shifts.

An internal capacity management project team, chaired by Kathy Johnson, Facilities Planning Manager, is charged with organizing the work needed to review capacity and to make recommendations to the Superintendent and School Board. The work is being done under the Executive Sponsorship of Donald Kennedy, Chief Financial and Operations Officer. The process will include providing regular information updates to, as well as seeking input and feedback from, parents, families and community members.
