Community Meetings and Public Hearings Schedule

Seattle Public Schools is considering school consolidation in fall 2006 as one strategy to reduce overhead costs and redirect resources to the classroom. The district operates about 30 percent excess school capacity for its current, and projected, student enrollment.

On April 20 Superintendent Raj Manhas submitted his preliminary recommendation to the School Board on potential school sites to close and/or consolidate. The final recommendation is scheduled for presentation on June 15, with a Board vote on July 13. Additional information is located at the Reshaping the Future of Seattle Public Schools website.
