As part of our commitment to create a school district that is aligned with our strategic plan to deliver Excellence for All, we have formed a new department within Learning and Teaching called Support, Prevention and Intervention (SPI).

What is our focus?

This department brings together groups that work in similar areas to provide supports that students may need to be successful in their academic careers. The department's work encompasses a broad range of support activities, including family and community engagement, drug and alcohol interventions, case management, discipline, and truancy prevention.

What is our strategy?

The SPI Department utilizes Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs as a theoretical framework to better align, integrate, and articulate our work with the district-wide vision of increased student achievement for all. To accomplish this goal, we work collaboratively within the SPI Department and across district departments in the implementation of a comprehensive Response to Intervention Model System to better support student needs. We also work to increase awareness about the scope and magnitude of services and outreach supports provided by the SPI Department across the district.
