Improving Our
Programs
As with all programs around Washington state, we
are always working toward improving the programs and services
provided students, staff, and families. This work focuses on
professional development for staff in evaluation, curriculum,
assessment, and instructional practices as well as ways to ensure
our programs meet state and federal guidelines.
As a result of last year's Focus Monitoring
Review by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, we
have developed a Corrective
Action Plan and Program Improvement Plan. This plan outlines
the areas we need to address as a result of the State's review, as
well as the actions we will be taking to address them. This plan is
in effect for seven years, at which time the State will come back
to Seattle to review the progress we have made in improving our
services and programs.
Additionally, a team of reviewers from the Urban Special Education
Leadership Collaborative are scheduled to be in Seattle May 30
through June 1st to review our programs. The purpose of this review
is to provide us suggestions and recommendations for enhancing
programs and services. This review will include administrators,
teaching staff, therapists, school psychologists, central support
staff and parents.
