PreK-12 Inquiry-Based Science Program
Updated: 12/3/07
VISION
The Seattle Public Schools is a leader in standards- and inquiry-based science education in which all students are scientifically literate.

MISSION
The mission of the PreK-12 science program in the Seattle Public Schools is to ensure that all students are able to investigate scientifically in order to acquire conceptual understanding of their world, develop positive scientific attitudes, and become scientifically literate. This is accomplished through a collaborative, interactive, rigorous science program responsive to the needs of diverse learners.

We implement
these five components
of exemplary programs:

High quality curriculum materials
Ongoing professional development
Centralized materials support
Assessment that is aligned to standards, curriculum, and instruction
Community and administrative involvement
The following chart shows the Seattle Schools adopted curriculum.
