Eligibility
Requirements
In order to be
eligible to receive a Seattle Schools Scholarship Fund award, the
student must:
- be
a graduating senior of a high school or alternative program within
Seattle School District No. 1 during the year the award is awarded:
and be a current resident of the State of Washington;
and
- have demonstrated a
certain level of academic achievement and potential for college
success.
Awards
The Seattle Schools
Scholarship Fund provides awards to students selected from the
traditional and alternative high schools.The students are selected
in accordance with criteria that are mutually agreeable to the
donors and trustees of the fund.Awards may vary in amount each
year, and are dependent on the generosity of contributors. The
established goal is $2,000 for each recipient of the annual
award.

Selection
Criteria
Consideration is given to the following criteria in determining
both the candidates and recipients of the Seattle Schools
Scholarship Awards:
- financial
need
- recognizable
contribution to their school and/or the community
- performance in
academic pursuits
- candidates from each
traditional and alternative high schools reflect the multiethnic,
multicultural, female/male populations
- candidates have
overcome significant life challenges to obtain a high school
diploma.
Alternates are
selected in the event the first-choice candidates are unable to
utilize the grant.
Candidates are
selected by school counselors and the Scholarship Fund
Committee.
