Revised: 10/30/07

Questions? Send e-mail to Jane Dudley at jedudley@seattleschools.org or call 252-0067.

For the 2007-2008 school year, Seattle Public Schools will offer the Pre-Assessment Seminar for the Professional Certification program through its partnerships with Seattle University and the University of Washington. This seminar is the first step toward Professional Certification for teachers who hold a Residency Certificate. For general information about professional certification, see the Quick Reference Document (QRD).

The initial session of this three-credit course will be held on January 22, 2008, 4:00-7:00 at the John Stanford Center, first floor Auditorium. The dates and times for additional sessions for each university are listed below. Credit for this course will be coordinated through each university.

If you are not sure whether you should enroll, please contact Jane Dudley. On-line registration can not be completed unless you indicate which partner university you wish to work with. If you need additional information about the universities' programs in order to make an informed choice, please contact:

Advanced Track
If you are an experienced teacher from out of state with 5 or more years of experience, you may be able to participate in an Advanced Track program for Professional Certification. Please contact Jane Dudley prior to registering in order to verify your eligibility for the Advanced Track.

Scholarships & Fellowships
Through the generous support of the Bank of America Foundation, the Alliance for Education is offering a limited number of scholarships and fellowships to ease the financial burden of early-career teachers in Seattle Public Schools (SPS) as they pursue Professional Certification. Applications are available by contacting Karen Tollenaar Demorest at (206) 205-0333 (karen@alliance4ed.org)

For additional information about professional certification, go to OSPI's (Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction) website
