Achievement Gap Summit II

The Race and Pedagogy Initiative and its Community Partners Forum at University of Puget Sound, in collaboration with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), the Washington Alliance of Black School Educators (WABSE), the Black Education Strategy Roundtable, and other community partners, invite you to:

Achievement Gap Summit II
Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008
University of Puget Sound
Schneebeck Concert Hall
8 a.m.–6 p.m.

The summit is a follow-up to the Achievement Gap Summit of 2006 that drew attention to the local and national emergency represented by the achievement gap, which disproportionately affects children of color and children from lower income families in our public education system.

The all-day 2008 summit, which will include presentations by prominent education experts, including Drs. James Anderson, Geneva Gay, and Terry Bergeson, will bring together 500 educators, parents, caregivers, and students, as well as business and political leaders, to share research, pedagogic practices, and family and community knowledge and experience in an effort to deepen our understanding of the roots of this crisis in education.

Cost of the summit is $100 per person. Limited scholarships are available. Clock hours are provided.
