Success-oriented physical education in the Seattle Public
Schools is an organized effort to teach students to
"learn to move" and to "move to learn". It is
developmentally appropriate, student centered, inclusive, and
focuses on
presenting a variety of movement options for learning, leisure,
and for life.

The new physical education stresses cooperation,
integration of other subject areas, and motivation to succeed
regardless of gender, size, age, and current level of ability or
