5. Circus Arts - Ringling Brothers

  • Partnership between the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) and the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sport (PCFPS)

  • CircusFit Program is a FREE educational curriculum designed specifically for kids grades 2nd - 5th that features 21 interactive lesson plans divided into 5 modules.

6. Community Event - Boardwalk 5K

  • Seattle School District sponsored 5K walk/run fundraiser for PEERC equipment and health programs. Each school can recognize two exemplary PE students. Great school and family event. SAVE THE DATE - APRIL 26, 2009

7.Community Event - Governor's Community Health Bowl

  • Statewide activity and health challenge. This year's goal is to accrue 2.5 million miles. Web-based challenge.

  • Statewide recognition of winning teams.

  • To participate, PE teachers register and then record their student's in class physical activity.

9. Health Education - Washington Dairy Council

  • Health Education Materials. $20 worth of FREE products available to all school teachers each year.

10. Health Education - KidsHealth in the Classroom

  • The site hosts materials for all grades (pre K to grade 12) and subject areas. Includes over 100 teacher's guides, activities. reproducible handouts, and quizzes - all aligned to the newly revised national health education standards.

14. Running - Students Run Seattle

  • After-school fitness and mentoring program to help at-risk youth living in Seattle build skills and establish healthy relationships with peers and adults through training for and completing the 26.2 mile Seattle Marathon. Focus on goal setting, character development, teamwork, and the importance of nutrition and physical fitness in daily life.
