The Instructional Broadcast Center has won two Aegis
Awards for programs produced at the Seattle Public Schools' own
television studio. The Aegis Awards are the video industry's
premier competition for peer recognition of outstanding video
productions and non-network TV commercials.
The winning programs from the IBC are the environmental
awareness children’s program “Dig It! Episode 2:
Resource Conservation”, which received two awards; and
“Welcome to the National Congress of American Indians –
2001”, a welcome and introduction video produced for
conference use. Both videos were produced by Michelle Mansfield.
Michelle Mansfield is an independent producer, director and
animator whose recent work includes projects with KCTS, UWTV, and
Seattle Public Schools. Her projects include work in television,
radio and web production. Both winning videos were edited by
award-winning local editor Sion Jones. Both videos received primary
funding and sponsorship from Seattle Public Utilities, through a
partnership with the Director's Communications Office.
“Dig-It! Episode 2: Resource Conservation” was
honored with the Aegis Award as the winner in the category
Training/Education. Mansfield also produced the conference video,
“Welcome to the National Congress of American Indians –
2001”, which was the winner in the category Event.
