In

all students on Tuesday morning:
"Hello. This is Dr.
Maria Goodloe-Johnson, calling from Washington, DC with a message
for our students. I am here in the nation’s capital to
witness the presidential inauguration and meet with other education
leaders. Being here with people from all over our country –
and in fact from all over the world - I want you to know that I
carry the hopes and dreams your teachers and principals have for
every one of you in Seattle. Our democratic process and the events
today in Washington, D.C. show that there is truly unlimited
opportunity ahead for you. As your Superintendent, I am personally
more inspired than ever to make sure each of you learn the skills
and knowledge you need to seize life’s opportunities. I want
you to know that the adults in our school district and in our
community are working together to help you develop your talents and
succeed. You are our future, and we are dedicated to giving you an
education so that the doors of opportunity swing wide open for each
of you as you graduate from Seattle Public Schools. Have a great
day in school, and I look forward to hearing about what you learned
today when I am back in Seattle."
