The Migrant Education Program (MEP) in Seattle Public Schools provides services for migrant students that are academically and culturally relevant. As a result, our students in this program are ensured of greater academic success.

We recognize the special challenges faced by the children from families of migrant workers. Migrant children have been called "children of the harvest" and "children of the road." The migrant student typically reports for school in the late spring, just when other students are counting down the days until summer vacation. Many are here for school in the fall, but by November have returned to their homes in Texas, California, Arizona, or Mexico. The migrant programs of Seattle Public Schools increase educational opportunities for these children during their time in our schools.

The Migrant Education Program is a federally funded and state managed program.
