Seattle Public Schools Mathematics Adoption

Overview of the Process
The curriculum adoption process for the Elementary and Middle Schools is complete. The high schools have yet to adopt a new curriculum.

Elementary Schools

The Elementary Schools are using Everyday Mathematics which is being supplemented with Singapore Math. Click here for a Parent Guide to Everyday Mathematics.

Middle Schools

The Middle Schools are using Connected Mathematics 2 (CMP2). Click here for a Parent Guide to CMP2

High Schools

During the 2005-2006 academic year, a high school curriculum adoption committee met for approximately 80 hours with the goal of finding a single curriculum for our 10 comprehensive high schools and 8 alternative high schools. Using the state Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) as their guide, the committee made the recommendation to adopt the Interactive Mathematics Program (IMP). An adoption decision was postponed pending work at the state level to revise the GLEs.

The State has changed its timeline for the adoption of the revised math standards. Click here for an update on this process. Part of the state's plan is to recommend three curricula that will best meet the new state GLEs. As such, the timeline for the high school adoption has changed. We anticipate new high school materials to be in place for the 2009-2010 school year.
