Welcome to the Mathematics Home Page
Revised: 2/6/08

Mathematics is the language and science of patterns and connections. Doing mathematics is an active process of constructing meaning through exploration and inquiry.

We believe that all students have the capability to become mathematically literate. Mathematical literacy provides avenues for the improvement of the quality of life. It empowers students to make choices in their personal and professional lives. Our goal is to equip students with the ability to cope confidently with the mathematical demands they will face in their future. Seattle Public Schools strives to provide a program of excellence that engages all students in a rigorous curriculum rich in problem-solving opportunities. According to NCTM, “a curriculum is more than a collection of activities; it must be coherent, focused on important mathematics, and well articulated across the grades."

We invite you to explore the resources listed below to learn more about our mathematics curriculum and standards.
