Levy Fast Facts
  • The Educational Programs & Operations Levy, at $338 million, represents 23 percent of the District's annual fund budget.

  • The capital levy, at $178 million, pays for nearly 700 projects, improving every school in the District.

  • Seattle has one of the lowest levy rates in the region. Of 10 local school districts in the Puget Sound area, Seattle has the third lowest levy rate ($2.39 per $1,000 of Assessed Value in 2003).

  • The tax rate for Seattle school levies will remain at or below current levels. It will decline from $2.39 per $1,000 of Assessed Value in 2003 to $2.12 per $1,000 of Assessed Value in 2007. (Assumes assessed value grows at six percent from 2004-2007).
