Seattle Public Schools Instructional Broadcast Center receives Communicator Crystal Award of Excellence in national competition for Playground Safety Training Video

The Seattle Public Schools Instructional Broadcast Center (IBC) has been honored by the Communicator Awards, a national awards program founded by communications professionals to recognize excellence in the communication field. Playground Safety and Supervision: a video for School Staff and Volunteers, a training video program sponsored by Seattle Public Schools Safety and Security, won the 2003 Crystal Award of Excellence in the Internal Communications / Training category. The Communicator's prestigious Crystal Award of Excellence is presented to those entrants whose ability to communicate elevates them above the best in the field.

DIGIT!, a Seattle Public Schools production, wins Omni Intermedia Silver Award

Seattle Public Schools TV is pleased to announce that one of our video productions, DigIt! is the winner of an Omni Intermedia Silver Award. The Omni Intermedia Awards recognizes outstanding production, design and content in the converging fields of television, film, video, Internet, interactive media and 3D animation. One of the top Omnis went to Seattle Public Schools TV for the production entitled DigIt! (Michelle Mansfield, Producer; Nancy Guppy, Writer; Sion Jones, Editor). DigIt! is an environmental stewardship awareness show for children and their families.

Annenberg/CPB award-winning education and professional development programming on SPS-TV

The Instructional Broadcast Center now broadcasts educational programs for lifelong learning and educational enrichment from the Annenberg/CPB Channel. Award-winning programs for educators and students include Art of the Western World, The Mechanical Universe, Discovering Psychology, Exploring the World of Music, Literary Visions, Ethics in America, For All Practical Purposes: Introduction to Contemporary Mathematics, The Pacific Century, The Constitution: That Delicate Balance, Rural Communities, and many others.

These shows are ideal for teachers at all levels, administrators, and curriculum supervisors. Viewers will find a wealth of video interviews, computer graphics, case studies, and historical footage to enhance middle school and high school classes across the curriculum.
