GLBTQ Families
Dinner - 2004
For
the past 5 years, the Health Education Office of Seattle Public
Schools has held a hugely successful and fun GLBT Families Dinner.
This event is supported entirely through community donations and
has grown from about 80 participants to over 200 in
2004!
Each
year, GLBT parents of Seattle Schools students, GLBT students,
their friends and families and supportive SPS staff come together
to support one another in a welcoming environment. Kids can meet
other kids with similar families and family members have a chance
to talk to others who share their experiences.
The
Superintendent and members of the Board greet and address those in
attendance reinforcing the fact that family participation is key
and that all families truly are welcome in Seattle Public
Schools.
This
annual event typically happens in the Fall. For more information,
please contact the Health Education Office at 252-0982.
