Overview
The School-Family Partnership Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) was
created in February 2005 to begin the implementation of the
School-Family Partnership Policy. Committee members were appointed
by Superintendent Raj Manhas. The committee is composed of a
diverse group of parents representing elementary and secondary
schools across the district.
Over
the course of several months, the committee researched and
identified family involvement strategies that would address the
unique needs of Seattle Public Schools. Through this research, the
committee discovered that a meaningful improvement in family
involvement in Seattle Public Schools could only be accomplished
through the development of a greatly expanded, supporting
infrastructure and the adoption of proven effective
methodologies.
The District School-Family Partnerships Plan was completed by the
PAC and presented to Superintendent Raj Manhas on June 29th, 2005.
The committee continues to meet monthly to oversee its
implementation.
