Ballard High School

Project Lead the Way

This pre-engineering program comprises five high-academic strands in everything from Principles of Design to Digital Electronics and Computer-Assisted Manufacturing.

Biotechnology Academy

A high-rigor science academy, the first of Seattle Public Schools' second wave of academies, the Biotechnology Academy has established a fine track record of supporting students in their pursuit of careers in the biotechnology field.

Ballard, Franklin, and Sealth High Schools

Academy of Finance

After 14 years, this program is still ahead of its time, evincing a strong business/school relationship, featuring a college-level class, summer internships, and two $20,000 scholarship winners in the past two years.

Cleveland High School

Academy of Information Technology

This academy started up with very strong community and business support, has since affiliated with the National Academy Foundation, and has inspired the "wall to wall" small schools initiative at Cleveland High School.

Franklin High School

Cisco Networking Academy

This particular Cisco Academy (Seattle Public Schools has seven) won the award for having the highest percentage of female students of any Cisco Academy in all of North America.

Franklin and Sealth High Schools

Apprenticeships in Construction Exploration (A.C.E.)

Students from Franklin and Sealth travel to South Seattle Community College's Duwamish campus where every few weeks they have a chance to try a different apprenticed trade. This program has been very successful, with some students making the transition to an apprenticeship -- the original four-year degree.

Garfield High School

Computers for the World

Computers for the World provides donated technology to students from developing nations. Students have traveled to Mozambique and Eastern Europe to assemble and install computers.

Automotive YES

Seattle Public Schools' first edition of this state-of-the-art auto technology, with strong participation from local dealers.

Garfield, Rainier Beach, Roosevelt, and West Seattle High Schools 

Pro-Start

Seattle Public Schools was one of the first of Washington's districts to adopt this culinary program in partnership with the Washington Restaurant Association.

Ingraham High School

Business Education

Year in and year out, this program turns out top-notch students proficient in a number of business skills, including web page design, accounting, Oracle, A+, and Cisco.

Student Leadership

Ingraham is the role model for Seattle Public Schools in terms of having the most students participate in their student leadership organizations.

Ingraham and Sealth High Schools

Academy of Travel and Tourism

This academy, with strong employer support, i.e., Holland America, introduces students to careers in the travel industry, and provides a portal to learning information technology, history, social studies and geography in a real-world context.

Ingraham and West Seattle High Schools

Careers in Education

Seattle Public Schools provides the model for the state, teaching about teaching, and inspiring the next generation of teachers. High school students do internships at Seattle Public Schools' elementary schools.

Nathan Hale High School

Television and Radio Program

C89.5 FM Radio Station is the public "face" of the best high school radio broadcast program in the state

Rainier Beach High School

Careers and Workplace Exploration in the Skilled Trades (C-WEST)

Careers and Workplace Exploration in the Skilled Trades is a model program whereby students work at school three days a week and go to paid internships two days a week in the skilled trades. The Port of Seattle, the City of Seattle, and Seattle Public Schools sponsor the internships.

Roosevelt High School

American Sign Language

Roosevelt's world language department gives full credit to students who complete this CTE course. Sign language interpreting is a language and a career!

Sealth High School

Technical Drafting

Students face and challenging curriculum and learn drafting on the most up-to-date equipment.

West Seattle High School

Environmental Science Academy

The newest of Seattle Public Schools' "second wave" of academies, the Environmental Science Academy has strong support from the private and public sector, infusing inspirational energy into West Seattle High School, who will start a Media Academy very soon.

Marshall Alternative High School

Criminal Justice

A charismatic teacher has brought this unique program, which attracts many students, to Seattle Public Schools. The program shows how career and technical education can be successful in a small-school environment.
