Career Ladders
WBL programs for students with special needs
Exploratory Internship Program (XIP)
- Students are
referred to the Exploratory Internship Program (XIP) by the
building Pre-vocational Advisor or IEP teacher.
- The referrals
are sent to the XIP Coordinator at the Dept. of Career and
Technical Education.
- The coordinator checks compliance
files. When all the necessary paperwork is turned in students are
placed in XIP classes.

Transition Success
Program
- Transition
Success (TS) instructors meet with seniors at the school site to
inform them about the Transition Success Program.
- Their IEP
teacher refers IEP students who meet all graduation requirements,
except for the vocational component, to the Transition Success
Program.
- Students meet individually with a
TS instructor at one of the three Seattle community college
sites.

Career Ladders
- Career Ladders
(CL) currently schedules a meeting at the Career Center for juniors
and seniors at Garfield and Franklin High Schools who are
interested in a community based internship.
- Students meet
with their counselors to place CL into their class schedule.
- Students complete applications and
are placed at internship sites.
