Student Leadership Organizations

  1. See New Program Startup Items 1 through 6.
  2. Organize professional development opportunities around collaboration and integration of Student Leadership program across the school’s curriculum
  3. Mentor staff and administration so they are well informed and able to articulate the Program to parents and students. Point out existing successful Programs at similar schools. Provide references and visitations where possible.
  4. Pathway specialist will provide resources to CTE teacher for extra time, fund raising, conferences, and ongoing recruitment.
  5. CTE teacher sponsor and Pathway specialist enroll participants in National organization and establish local high school chapter complying with applicable state and regional requirements. Teacher and Pathway specialist cooperatively build membership and activities in each school.
  6. Pathway specialist and CTE teachers infuse components of student leadership into all CTE related courses and activities, school wide curriculum, and school wide activities and events. Issues include:
    • State mandated requirements for curriculum and graduation
    • Alignment to Standards
    • Cross-crediting
    • Student and school government participation
    • Economics
    • Diversity
    • Equity
    • Achievement gap
    • Parental and community involvement
    • Community service by students
