New Teacher Mentoring

  1. Orient new teachers to vocational requirements of Washington State, OSPI, and Seattle Schools.
  2. Provide information and training regarding teacher responsibility of required activities, including:
    • Managing monthly enrollment
    • Communication systems
    • Semester schedules
    • Reporting timelines and documents
    • Budget forms
    • Management
    • Purchasing processes
    • Student leadership activities
    • Risk management and safety
    • Curriculum and instruction
    • District initiatives in teaching and learning.
  3. Coach teachers about their personal growth, professional practice standards, and Advisory Committee goal setting activities and program reviews.
  4. Visit teachers at work to guide program and improvement efforts.
  5. Provide teachers with resources and opportunities to develop skills, learning, and master routine processes.
  6. Work toward teacher retention efforts.
