School Support and Services
Internships
- Contact the
Workbased Learning Program Supervisor (WBL) for specific
information.
- For
internships that are a part of academies or program specific, WBL
staff will coordinate with appropriate staff (e.g., Academy
Coordinator and /or academy WBL staff). Assistance that can be
provided includes development of internship process, employer
recruitment and training, worksite development and monitoring,
student preparation; interview process; and student support;
credit; and curriculum.
- WBL staff can
coach academy and /or program staff on any facet of
internships.
- Any individual
teacher who is working with internships may receive assistance.
Currently, the only credit that may be given for internships is occ
ed. If a teacher does not have the appropriate endorsement,
assistance can be provided in one of two ways, either with
certification support or by finding a properly certified teacher to
team with.
- If an internship program is to be
developed, with a teaching position set aside for this purpose,
once decisions have been made regarding budget, CTE support can be
given on teacher certification (in necessary), hiring process,
curriculum materials; and on-going teacher training, mentoring, and
support.
