School Support and Services

Internships

  1. Contact the Workbased Learning Program Supervisor (WBL) for specific information.
  2. For internships that are a part of academies or program specific, WBL staff will coordinate with appropriate staff (e.g., Academy Coordinator and /or academy WBL staff). Assistance that can be provided includes development of internship process, employer recruitment and training, worksite development and monitoring, student preparation; interview process; and student support; credit; and curriculum.
  3. WBL staff can coach academy and /or program staff on any facet of internships.
  4. Any individual teacher who is working with internships may receive assistance. Currently, the only credit that may be given for internships is occ ed. If a teacher does not have the appropriate endorsement, assistance can be provided in one of two ways, either with certification support or by finding a properly certified teacher to team with.
  5. If an internship program is to be developed, with a teaching position set aside for this purpose, once decisions have been made regarding budget, CTE support can be given on teacher certification (in necessary), hiring process, curriculum materials; and on-going teacher training, mentoring, and support.
