School Support and Services

Education Reform Support

  1. Determine specific interest in the school and obtain principal / Instructional Council endorsement and building approval.
  2. Support transformation plans of school sites.
  3. Contact pathway specialist or academy coordinator for their support of Rigor, Relevance and Relationships. Determine level of support desired.
  4. Include the pathway specialist or academy coordinator in building discussions on reform discussions and process. Specialists are available to attend planning meetings and participate in these discussions. As former teachers, specialists provide a unique perspective and experience.
  5. Pathway specialists assist in determining if new program approval will be required or if it falls under an existing state approval.
  6. Pathway specialists will provide assistance in determining if the school has qualified CTE teaching staff, if an existing staff person can obtain the necessary certification, or if a new teacher needs to be hired.
  7. Determine if an existing Advisory Board is already established and contact the Academy Coordinator for current advisory board information. Meet with Academy Coordinator to develop new Advisory Board or pursue joining existing Advisory Board.
  8. Engage in developing program approval or program plan of work.
  9. Begin and complete the following processes:
    • Teacher certification
    • Program and budgetary needs
    • Labor forecast
    • Advisory group and functional support
    • Curriculum frameworks,
    • Student leadership organization
  10. The pathway specialist and academy coordinator assist with all of the above. When they are in place, equipment, supplies, professional development and calendar of activities are assigned to the program.
