Course Title: Animation Tech Graphics 1, 2, 3, & 4

This course prepares individuals to use computer applications and related visual imaging and sound, techniques to manipulate images and information originating as film, video, still photographs, digital copy, soundtracks, and physical objects in order to communicate messages simulating real-world content. The course includes instruction in specialized camerawork and equipment operation and maintenance, image capture, dubbing, software applications, and applications to specific commercial, industrial, and entertainment needs.

Course Title:  Com Radio Prog

In this course students further develop their writing skills for the programming of public service announcements, news, sports, interview and special features.  Students take an active role in the programming responsibilities for KNHC-FM on a day-to-day basis. They learn pre-production skills such as research, format and copyediting.  Students gain additional experience in the use and operation of radio equipment.  The course assignments and personnel job descriptions closely parallel those of the Broadcasting Industry.

Course Title:  Com Radio Prod

In this course students further develop their skills in the care and operation of radio equipment such as microphones, turntables, audio tape decks, mixing and control boards, cart machines, and cassette recorders.  Students will learn post-production techniques such as editing and audio dubbing and will develop their own radio productions for airing on KNHC-FM on a regular basis employing sound safety and work habits.  Students will receive instructions in order to qualify for an F.C.C. Third Class F.C.C. License.  They will gain additional knowledge for career opportunities in radio and audio production.

Course Title: Com Television

In this course students use the camera, VTR, switcher, lights, and the audio board in the production of special features. They script and storyboard their own features, learn post-production techniques of edition and industrial procedures, and participate in team activities. Productions developed in class are available for use in CATV, In-House Broadcasting, and for general use as a resource for various departments throughout the District.

CTE Photo is designed to explore the photographic process as a method of creative visual communication. This course assists the student in preparation for a career in the field of two-way communications, satellite communications or in radio and television broadcasting. Course Title: Graphic Arts 1 TE

This basic course in graphic arts introduces students to possible careers in one of the largest industries in this country. Through the use of modern machines and techniques, students learn to design and produce printed materials by silkscreen and offset lithography. They learn the fundamentals of graphic design, printing layout, copy setting and paste-up, line photography, plate and stencil making, printing techniques, bindery and finishing methods.

Course Title: Graphic Arts Advanced

This course is designed for the student who has an interest in a career in the graphic arts industries or who wishes to pursue advanced study in the field. Course Title: School Communications TV

Students will increase their understanding of media messages as they learn the basic technical and aesthetic elements of studio television production. This class requires analysis and development of multi-camera productions, such as talk shows, news programs, instructional programs, and sportscasts. Students will learn script development, camera, audio, lighting, graphics, directing, technical directing, and on-camera skills, as they produce a series program for the school. Class projects will be shown on the school’s closed-circuit channel.

Course Title: Technical Theater 1, 2, 3, & 4

The Tech Theatre course is designed to introduce the serious student to technical theater and to provide internship or volunteer opportunities in order to give the students the training they need to pursue employment in theatre arts. Hands-on training in five specific areas (1. Light Design, 2. Sound Design, 3. Costume and props design, 4. Set design, 5. Arts management) will give students basic skills in technical theatre. Once the student has chosen a specific area, the training will specialize and the student will leave the program with a presentable portfolio as well as contacts in the Seattle Theatre scene, granting the possibility of immediate internships and/or paid employment. This course is 360 hours and vocational approved. The student may earn up to 2.0 credits.

In this course students become familiar with broadcasting for television. Course Title: X Radio Communicatn

This course is designed to prepare students to successfully enter occupations in the radio communication field or to successfully enter the communication maintenance programs at colleges, universities or other institutions offering programs with similar prerequisites and objectives. Though the program includes an overview of the broad field of radio communication equipment maintenance and operations, it is primarily designed to prepare students for employment in radio communication operations. Graduates are capable of production work such as commercials and public service announcements, news, sports, servicing and maintaining radio communication equipment, keeping logs and performing other duties associated with radio broadcast stations. This is a 360-hour program.
