Automotive YES 1 and 2

Program Description

This program is a partnership with the Automotive Youth Educational Systems (Automotive YES). Through this partnership, students will have an opportunity to participate in a summer internship with participating dealerships between their junior and senior year. In the automotive technology laboratory, students learn the scientific concepts behind today’s sophisticated auto systems. Students learn about automotive and gas engine theory, operation, repair and maintenance. Various automotive systems are covered along with basic repairs, and day-to-day problems that can occur. Program can be tailored to students and time allotted for class.

Prerequisite

  • Must be at least 16 years of age at time of program completion
  • Junior or senior (preference given to graduating seniors)
  • Have your counselor’s approval
  • Be attending Seattle Public Schools

Time

  • 7:45-10:45 Monday-Friday, AM session
  • 12:20-2:15 Monday-Friday, PM session

Length

2 Semesters

Credits

  • 1.5 High School Credits (3 class periods)-AM session
  • 1.0 High School Credits (2 class periods)-PM session
  • Up to 18 Community College Credits –SSCC only
