What is a career academy?
It’s being part of a Small Learning Community. .
.
- You and all
other academy students will take the same classes for about half of
your school day.
- You’ll
get to know a small team of teachers really well
- All the
students in your academy are students who want to be
there
- It’s like being part of a new
family of people with a common interest who care about and help
each other along
It’s preparing forCollege and Lifelong Learning . .
.
- Your classes
meet the state’s and Seattle Public Schools’ academic
standards
- Your teachers
plan classes together, so all your academy classes are
inter-related
- You can’t ask for a better
high school education!
It’s Connecting to theReal World . . .
- An influential
steering committee works to provide internships, scholarships,
supplies, speakers, trips, mentors, jobs, opportunities . . .
- There are ways
for your family to be involved and support you
- You’ll
have experiences in the real world and ways to provide service
& learning
- It’s a relevant
education

The National Academy Foundation
The National Academy Foundation (NAF) sustains a national
network of career academies to support the development of
America’s youth toward personal and professional success in
high school, in higher education and throughout their
careers. NAF builds partnerships between high schools and
businesses to prepare students for post-secondary education and
careers through a theme-based, contextualized curriculum approach
in finance, hospitality and tourism and information technology.
