What is a career academy?

It’s being part of a Small Learning Community. . .

  • You and all other academy students will take the same classes for about half of your school day.
  • You’ll get to know a small team of teachers really well
  • All the students in your academy are students who want to be there
  • It’s like being part of a new family of people with a common interest who care about and help each other along

It’s preparing forCollege and Lifelong Learning . . .

  • Your classes meet the state’s and Seattle Public Schools’ academic standards
  • Your teachers plan classes together, so all your academy classes are inter-related
  • You can’t ask for a better high school education!

It’s Connecting to theReal World . . .

  • An influential steering committee works to provide internships, scholarships, supplies, speakers, trips, mentors, jobs, opportunities . . .
  • There are ways for your family to be involved and support you
  • You’ll have experiences in the real world and ways to provide service & learning
  • It’s a relevant education
