Goals of the Academy
- To increase
student’s knowledge and appreciation of travel, tourism, and
hospitality and to have students understand the interrelationship
between the economic system and these fields.
- To make
students aware of the career opportunities and to provide skills
necessary to work in the travel, tourism and hospitality
industry.
- To provide
on-the-job training to help students apply and extend what they
have learned in class.
- To provide
teachers with seminars and on-the-job training to increase and
update their knowledge about travel, tourism and hospitality.
- To engage the
expertise of qualified people familiar with the industry to assist
with the development and evaluation of programs supportive of
industry needs.
- To develop a
group of qualified people to lead and participate in the
industry’s promising future.
- To raise funds to support a
financially related program in the public schools.

Unique Experiences for the
Student
- Participation
in travel and tourism courses only available to Academy of Travel
& Tourism member schools.
- Preparation of
resumes.
- Job interview
experience.
- Six week paid
summer internship (Students must apply and be interviewed for
internships.)
- On-the-job
training.
- College
experience
- Field Trips to
industry specific businesses for travel, tourism and
hospitality.
- Seminars and
guest speakers to discuss specialized topics in the field.
- Annual Career
Awareness Event
- Senior
Exchange Trip – financed through student fund raising for
qualified Seniors
- Special
graduation ceremony
- Access to scholarship funds
