Course Title: AOH&T Lodging Management 1, 2

This course is part of the Business, Marketing & Information Technology - Marketing Pathway.

Students will be introduced to the lodging industry through a curriculum that integrates academic and hands-on learning to provide an overview of the industry. Students will learn specific competencies for potential management positions. The course will cover: 1) an overview of lodging management, 2) the specifics of the front office, 3) housekeeping, and 4) customer service.

AoH&T Lodging Management 2 curriculum will integrate academic and hands-on learning competencies in the areas of: 1) Leadership and Management; 2) Marketing and Sales; and 3) Food and Beverage Service. Event planning activities will continue.

Course Title: Bus-Computer App

This course is part of the Business, Marketing & Information Technology - Information Technology Pathway.

In this course students learn to use existing business oriented computer software programs including spreadsheets, database, and graphics programs. They will also learn programs that integrate the spreadsheet, database and graphics functions.

 

Course Title: Economics for Travel & Tourism

A basic principles and practices one-semester course of study that parallels the concepts taught in the standard high school required Economics course (American Government & Economics).  Academy students take this course in lieu of the AGE course offered at their school.  Throughout the course, examples for economics principles are drawn from the world of travel & tourism in order to integrate academic learning and practical business applications.

 

Course Title: English for Travel & Tourism

Infusion material designed to be integrated into a standard course of study.  A one-year course of study in American literature combined with an emphasis on oral as well as written communication. 

 

Course Title: Geography for Travel & Tourism

A one-term course of study, which is geared at having students develop broad geographic skills.  In addition to learning how to utilize the basic tools of the geographer, students learn how economics, culture, history and political issues all impact upon geography and how geography impacts upon other disciplines.

 

Course Title: Strategies for Success

A one-semester course of study which helps to orient students to the world of work and school. Ideally this course is offered in the ninth or tenth grades as it addresses the needs of students to develop good work and study habits, helps students to prepare portfolios, learn about school resources, develop career plans, start preparing for college and develop solid interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and building self esteem.
