2002 & 2004 Youth Survey
Results
The Communities That
Care Survey, the first of its kind in Seattle, measures social,
academic and emotional factors that can become barriers to
learning, including family conflict, academic failure, the
perceived availability of drugs and firearms. The survey also
examines factors that help students achieve, including family
involvement, academic success, healthy beliefs and positive social
skills.
Following are the
findings from this comprehensive survey of more than 9,000 middle
and high school students in Spring, 2002 and again in March, 2004.
The results offer a unique perspective on the lives of Seattle
teens and the opportunities for educators, community members and
parents to shape their future.
