No Child Left
Behind Act
In 2002, President
Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act. As part of this
federal law, schools and districts will be held accountable for
making "Adequate Yearly Progress" in the achievement of
students. Currently, Seattle School District is on the
State’s District Improvement Plan.

Seattle Public
Schools Local Flex Demonstration Program Plan – Five Year
Authority
In 2003 Seattle Public
Schools became the first district in the nation to receive approval
of its plan and to take advantage of the Local-Flexibility
provision under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
