District honored for technology innovation in digital education

Digital School Districts Survey Winner 2008Seattle Public Schools placed fifth in the top 10 winners in a national survey that recognized "exemplary school boards and districts use of technology to govern the district, communicate with students, parents and the community and to improve district operations." On October 23, the Center for Digital Education, the National School Boards Association and Converge Online magazine announced the winners of the nation’s fifth annual Digital School Districts Survey. Seattle Public Schools placed fifth in the Large Category (more than 15,000 students) Winners reflected school districts with the fullest implementation of technology standards in the evolution of digital education.

The Seattle Public Schools Web site was selected as one of the nation's top ten public school Web sites for 2007 by WantToTeach.com.

Top Ten Public School Website Award WinnersWeb sites were judged on the following criteria:

  • Functionality - useful information and ease of access. Design - a sharp design designating a sense of pride in one's school and/or district. Imagination - a sense of imagination present in the site.
  • Timeliness - the site is maintained and current.
