Standard 1. The student understands and applies arts knowledge and skills

1.1.1 Understands arts concepts and vocabulary: Elements (Space, Time, Energy/force)
* Explains and applies the concepts of visual art, dance, theatre, and music using arts vocabulary
* Maintains a steady beat and holds the tempo in half time and double time (time)
* Demonstrates a range of efforts actions (e.g., glide, float, flick, dab, punch, slash, wring, press) (energy)
1.1.2 Understands arts concepts and vocabulary: Principles of Organization
* Repetition, Balance, Contrast, Emphasis, and Variety
* Explains and applies the concepts of visual art, dance, theatre, and music using arts vocabulary
* Demonstrates theme and variation in choreography (form)
* Creates transitions to develop fluency in dance

1.2 Develops arts skills and techniques
* Develops arts skills and techniques
* Demonstrates the ability to reverse a simple movement combination
* Demonstrates the ability to move with others through a variety of geometric formations
* Understands correct alignment principle

* Demonstrates movement in duple/triple meters (time)
1.1.2 Understands arts concepts and vocabulary: Principles of Organization
* Repetition, Balance, Contrast, Emphasis, and Variety
* Analyzes and interprets works of visual art, dance, theatre, and music using arts concepts and vocabulary
* Abstracts movement through choreographic devises such as exaggeration, accumulation, retrograde, etc.

1.2 Develops arts skills and techniques
* Refines and extends arts skills and techniques
* Maintains correct alignment while moving
* Applies feedback in order to improve overall dance work

1.3 Understands and applies arts styles from various artists, cultures, and times
* Transfers understandings from one artistic style to a larger group of artworks
