Director:
Marcus Pimpleton

Marcus J. Pimpleton has been the director of the All-City
Marching Band since the winter of 2003. This summer will be his
seventeenth consecutive year as a part of the All-City Band family,
having previously served one year as assistant director, five years
as drum major staff, and five years as a member of the trombone and
drum major sections.
Mr. Pimpleton received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of
Music degrees in August of 2002 from the University of Washington.
While at the University, Mr. Pimpleton served three years as drum
major of the nationally renowned Husky Marching Band and as
president of the Gamma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary
Band Fraternity. In his role as Husky Drum Major, Mr. Pimpleton led
the band in performances at the 2001 Rose Bowl and Rose Bowl Parade
and in performances in an historic 2001 tour of China. He also had
the opportunity to teach a signal baton showmanship class at the
Smith Walbridge Drum Major Clinic at the University of Illinois,
where he earned the commission of "Drum Major First Class."
In the time between All-City Summers, Mr. Pimpleton serves as
music director and activity coordinator at Denny Middle School and
teaches a steel drum class for students at Chief Sealth High
School. He is a licensed youth minister at Zion United House of
Prayer in Seattle's central district, and he is the founding
director of the Federal Way All-City Marching Band. If that were
not enough, he is currently in the process of developing a junior
"All-City" Band for middle school students in West Seattle and is
in the process of earning a Master's of Theology from the AL Hardy
Academy.
When he gets a break from teaching, you are most likely to find
him napping or playing spades or dominoes with friends.
