The
Seattle Schools Accounting Services department performs the
following functions in support of District operations:
- Deposits cash receipts
and records District revenues
- Invests all available
cash resources
- Issues payment to
suppliers in receipt of goods and services
- Records District
expenditures in accordance State and Federal
requirements
- Provides formal fiscal
reporting and related financial information to District Managers,
the Public and State and Federal Agencies
- Acts as District
liason to the Washington State Auditors Office
- Acts as custodian of
District financial records and steward of District
assets

allocates $4.5 billion per year to schools and implements state
funding formulas and laws. The Financial Services unit
oversees school district accounting, budgeting, and financial

Officers Association - The Government Finance Officers

State Auditor's
Office - The State Auditor reviews financial records to
ensure public funds are accounted for and controls are in place to
protect public resources from misuse and misappropriation. In
addition, legal compliance auditing is conducted to make sure units
of state and local government adhere to required laws and
regulations relating to financial matters. To review and
