READING WRITING

• I can use letters and sounds, the sense of the story, and a glossary to learn new words.
• I can read some words or books all by myself.
• I like to read things by myself, and I practice so I can read aloud with expression.
• I can tell you about parts of a book.
• I can show you things on the computer.
• When I read, I can remember all the main parts and tell them to someone else in order.
• When I read, I can guess what will happen next and explain why I think so.
• I like to read all kinds of non-fiction about real things in the world.
I like to read all kinds of fiction from different people and lands, like:

poems, songs, stories, letters

• I talk to adults and friends about my reading and set goals to keep getting better.??

• I help my class make up stories together.
• I write sentences about a topic.
• I think of a beginning, a middle, and an ending.
• I use some capital letters and put punctuation at the end of my sentences.
• I learn spelling words and use sounds for other words.
• I write make-believe stories and stories about things that really happen.
• I write to explain things.
• I write about what I think people should do.
• I know about how people write when they are at work.
• I fix up my writing so I can show it to people and read it to them.
• I talk about my writing with my teacher, parents and friends.


COMMUNICATION MATH

• I listen and figure out the main idea or follow the directions.
• I can remember and retell what I heard or saw.
• I listen to others and know when it's my turn to talk.
• I know how to be a good audience.
• I stick to one topic when I?m speaking and have a beginning, middle and end.
• I look at people and use volume and expression when I speak.
• Sometimes I use things to explain what I'm speaking about.
• I help figure out solutions to problems or disagreements.
• I know if communications around me are true or not.

Number Sense
• I can count, read, and write numerals to 1000.
• I can use models to show halves, thirds and fourths.
• I can add and subtract two- and three-digit numbers.

Measurement
• I can measure length, area, weight, capacity, time, and temperature.
• I can count coins to $1.00.

Geometric sense
• I can compare and contrast geometric figures.

Probability and statistics
• I can use words like "most often" and "least often" to describe data.

Algebraic sense
• I can figure out the rule for pairs of numbers.
I can complete number sentences using +, -, =, <, and >.

Using math
• I can figure out information that is missing.
• I can use objects and models to check if what I am thinking is right.
