The Five Themes of Geography
are:
Place, Region, Human/Environment
Interaction, Location, Movement
| Place
- |
Locations having distinctive
characteristics which give them meaning and character, and
distinguish them from other locations |
| Region
- |
An area with one or more common
characteristics of features, which give it a measure of homogeneity
and make it different from surrounding areas |
|
Human/Environment Interaction -
|
Human interaction with
everything in and on Earth's surface and its atmosphere within
which communities exist |
| Location - |
The position of a point on Earth's
surface expressed by means of a grid (absolute) or in relation
(relative) to the position of other places |
| Movement - |
The act or process of
people moving from one place to another. Movement not only includes
people, but also goods, information, and ideas. Since people nearly
everywhere are interdependent, they rely on each other for goods,
services, and ideas near and far. |
