Thank you for visiting our
school consolidation and transition website. The purpose of this
website is to give you information about the consolidation
transition implementation process.
No one likes the idea of having to consolidate school buildings,
but school districts must make such hard decisions from time to
time as demographics change and facilities age and become costly to
maintain. Because our focus is the academic success of each child,
we are dedicated to making every possible dollar available for use
in the classroom.
We are committed to providing you with the most accurate and
timely information possible as we move ahead with implementation.
This website will be updated frequently, and includes an
implementation timeline, Frequently Asked Questions, and other
information as we move forward.
We are fully dedicated to working with all of the families,
staff and community members affected by a school consolidation to
ensure a smooth, positive transition into a successful 2007-08
academic year . During the 2006-2007 school year we must work
together to keep our focus on our academic vision: Every student a
reader, writer, mathematician and ready for college and work.
School consolidation implementation is being carefully carried
out by a large team of people from all facets of the
District— including educators, facilities planners, movers,
and maintenance people. This is the “Books and Bricks”
team. They will be your direct link to the latest and most accurate
information as we move through this process. Our implementation
plan has the support of the Seattle Council PTSA and we are
collaborating with them and individual school PTSA’s, to meet
the unique needs of each school affected by this process.
Our goal is to make this website responsive to your questions
and ideas—please contact the Books and Bricks team, at
booksandbricks@seattleschools.org if you have questions, ideas, or
suggestions about the process or this website. All emails will be
read by the lead members of the Books and Bricks team. The team
will use the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section of the
website to provide answers to common questions or comments and will
make every effort to respond to individual e-mails.
Sincerely,
Raj Manhas
